Forecast: Strong storms and heavy rain moving in tonight; Flash Flood Watch in effect

AUSTIN, Texas — *FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM WEDNESDAY MORNING THROUGH THURSDAY EVENING FOR BLANCO, BURNET, GILLESPIE, HAYS, LLANO, TRAVIS, WILLIAMSON, BASTROP, AND CALDWELL COUNTIES.*

Expect Wednesday to stay humid, warm, cloudy and breezy. Scattered showers and an isolated storm are possible through the day, although the heaviest rain and storm potential happens overnight Wednesday into Thursday.

Moisture from Pamela in Western Mexico intersects a slow-moving cold front that will be pushing through Central Texas late Wednesday. This will be the perfect setup for heavy rainfall, strong storms and a flash flood threat. Two to 5 inches of rain will be possible with isolated higher amounts along and west of Interstate 35. Areas east of Austin will see rainfall totals of between one to three inches for most. There is a low-end threat for severe weather overnight. Aside from heavy rain, there is a potential for gusty winds, hail and a low-end threat for an isolated tornado. Rain clears out through the day Thursday.

Another cold front moves in Friday and brings a beautiful fall weekend with highs only in the 70s and morning lows in the 40s and 50s along with clear conditions!
